Witch Runes

History of Witch Runes

The exact origins of Witch Runes is not known, but they predate Christianity and are drenched in mythology. Witch runes are beautiful, mystical, and one of the most modern occult concepts or structures. Witch Runes are comprised of 13 simple, easy to understand (and memorize!)symbols; one for each of the complete lunar months in the calendar year.

Use of Witch Runes

Casting / Readings: Each rune symbol is simple, but at the same time contains a more involved and complex meaning. This lends them to be used in casting for readings more easily, especially when including the physical relationships of where each rune lies with respect to the casting cloth center and to each other. When used with our leather Witch Rune pattern divination mats containing all 13 symbols, it opens up added relational aspects to readings when considering the position of the symbol on the mat with respect to the symbols and locations of each casted rune on the mat.

Spells: Because Witch Runes are picture  symbols they do not require in-depth study to master, making them easy to quickly use. Spells are performed to affect an outcome to a situation or set of circumstances like:

  • releasing energies; unnecessary emotional baggage being carried that hinders forward spiritual progress

  • healing; usually bad relationships, a grievance, or even physical health problems

  • manifesting; usually something to be achieved, like abundance in money, finances or love

  • hand-fasting; used when making a year and a day long commitment to a love relationship (jumping the broom)

  • break: creating a clean break from a situation

  • banishing; ill-wishes or bad energy

  • binding spells; which are usually performed to inhibit, interfere with, prevent or stop something from happening.
